How to build your brand

No matter what industry you work hard in to earn your money, one of the most important things when it comes to earning more is a good brand. If you work for a company, you want more people to recognise your brand so you can sell more products or services to customers. Even if you have set up your own company and the product you are selling is yourself, whether it is your services as an accountant, an entertainer or even as a temporary employee, your brand is vital when it comes to landing more work and securing more money. While working hard and creating a good, high-quality product or service will help you build a brand that people will want to spend their money on, there are lots of other ways you can help your brand grow. Here are some of the best ways to build an effective brand.

Hand out more than just a business card

If you work or own a company, it is highly likely that you will own a few hundred or even thousand business cards. You probably regularly hand these out in the hope they will be a handy reminder for someone to give you a call when they require whatever product or service you are offering. Unfortunately, the reality is that many of these cards end up in the bin literally hours after you have handed them out. Instead, consider giving them something that is a lot more valuable than a business card. Why not consider making promotional products with your brand and contact information on so they are a lot more likely to want to keep it. For example, you could create your own branded mouse mats to give out to people. Not only will this show you are creative and help you stand out from the crowd, but they will also see that brand on their desk everyday and know exactly who to call if they are ever in need of whatever you are offering.

Become a contributor for television and radio

Everybody wants someone who they think is an expert in their field and is a trusted person to rely on when it comes to looking after their money. One of the best ways to gain this trust is to become a television or radio expert. News programmes are always looking for businesspeople to appear on their shows to explain things about their industry, whether you work in finance, technology or something completely different. Even if it is on a small, community run TV show, being able to say you have appeared on television or on the radio is a great way to reassure a customer that you are the right person for the job.

Network as often as possible

While it is probably one of the most traditional and out-dated ways of building your brand, it is still important to network as often as possible. If you introduce yourself to a lot of people and none of them ever seem to get in touch with you to do business, it can become demoralising and seem like a massive waste of time. However, it is important to keep going, as you never know when you are going to meet that big money client who will jump at the chance to work with you.
